Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
This week the children have been learning about the significance of Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday as we prepare for the time of Lent. We were invited to celebrate Ash Wednesday Mass yesterday with our Parish and Father Andrew shared a great visual homily on washing away our sins. This created a great platform for discussions with the children that we hope has filtered its way back home.
It has been great to see the children in the pool enjoying the lessons with EasySwim School. It's always amazing to see the progress in these block sessions and we are also excited to have the instructors down at the beach with us tomorrow.
Rooms 8, 9 and 10 have been very fortunate to have Nova, a nutritionist from Foodstuffs, working with them on how to read labels to understand food groups and identify what are everyday foods and sometimes foods. Don't be surprised if you have some detective work going on in your pantry at home!
Tomorrow is our annual Beach Picnic Day. This is a fantastic opportunity for the whole school to be together, sharing our local community and a fun way for the children to develop friendships. We will have the EasySwim instructors working with the senior children in the water and of course, Mrs. Fitzsimons will be running her famous beach races. Please join us during the day if you are able.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 18th February, 2024
1st Sunday of Lent
Mark 1:12-15
On the first Sunday of Lent each year, we hear the story of Jesus going into the desert for 40 days and being tempted by Satan. In Mark’s Gospel, we don't hear details about how Satan tempted Jesus or how Jesus succeeded in resisting temptation. In Mark’s Gospel, Jesus’ battle with Satan continues throughout His life, to be concluded only at His death on the cross. We are called to renew our commitment to resist certain temptations during Lent and we pray that what we begin during each Lent will continue long after. ~Loyola Press

Multiply the order total by the number of Fridays.
2. WEEKLY ORDERS: These need to be sent to the same email address, with the same order details as in Option 1 and also paid into the same bank account number.
VERY IMPORTANT: The deadline for weekly orders is at 3p.m. on a Thursday. Unfortunately, no late orders can be accepted.
If you would like to pay in advance for a set number of weeks but not all
the weeks in this particular term, please feel free to email these details to
the team.
If your child is new to our school and only starts part way through the term,
simply adjust the number of weeks for the remainder of the term.
