Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
This year for Matariki we would love to have a hangi to help celebrate this special time of year. If anyone is able to help support us with this or has any contacts who we can reach out to, please let us know asap. Our date for this year's celebration is Thursday, 27th June.
On Wednesday, the whole school took part in an Immersion Day as part of our Inquiry around journeying. Immersion activities are generally - whole school, experiential, creative, exploratory and may involve Education Outside the Classroom. Our enduring understanding was: Everyone and everything journeys and the children participated in a range of activities that will help them to understand that no one was here in the beginning and everyone comes from somewhere and for different reasons. These fun activities are a fantastic way to get the conversations started.
We held the 2nd part of our Easter Pageant in the Church on Wednesday afternoon. The children did a lovely job of retelling the end of the Easter story.
We have been invited by the Porirua City Council to the ANZAC DAY CIVIC SERVICE. The service will be held at the Peace Memorial at Te Rauparaha Park on Thursday, 25th April 2024 at 9a.m. We wil be laying a wreath on behalf of St. Theresa's Catholic School and will be part of the parade. Everyone is welcome to join us and we will meet outside the Council Administration Building at 8.40a.m. Children will need to be in school uniform.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 7th April, 2024
Second Sunday of Easter
John 20:19-31
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus greets His disciples and Thomas believes in what has happened because he sees Jesus. Jesus offers His disciples the gift of peace; “Peace be with you”. He gives them the gift of the Holy Spirit and asks that they go and forgive sins. Today we can call upon the Holy Spirit to help us forgive others.
We wish you all a very happy and memorable time at St. T's and hope that you enjoy your years here as part of this very special wee community of ours.
Caritas Challenge - Thursday, 11th April
In Room 3, we have been writing stories about animals. We have been using descriptive language to make them super exciting and interesting to read! To celebrate Easter in Room 3, we learnt about different traditions from around the world. To celebrate Easter in Germany, they decorate eggs and hang them on a tree. We decided to do this in Room 3! We have really enjoyed learning about how Easter is celebrated in other countries. We have also been learning about the long a sound that can be spelt with an a y or an a i.
Board Talk - Mike Tohill, Presiding Member
On Wednesday, a group of Year 5 & 6 students attended the Parumoana Endzone Tournament at Ngatitoa Domain. It provided an opportunity to try a new sport. It was lots of fun and the children really enjoyed the experience. Thanks to Maria, Nicky, Kare, Toni and Lucy who helped supervise, transport and support the children.
As part of our Immersion Day, these children learned about the Monarch Butterfly Migration.
In the interest of avoiding a whole lot of extra admin, could you please return your pool key as soon as possible, if you haven't already done so?

Number of pizza slices - please specify if gluten free
Number of ice blocks
Cost: $1.50 per pizza slice and $1 per ice block
Multiply the order total by the number of Fridays.

VERY IMPORTANT: The deadline for weekly orders is at 3p.m. on a Thursday. Unfortunately, no late orders can be accepted.
If you would like to pay in advance for a set number of weeks but not all
the weeks in this particular term, please feel free to email these details to
the team.
If your child is new to our school and only starts part way through the term,
simply adjust the number of weeks for the remainder of the term.
