Mai i te Kopae ki te Urupa, tatou ako tonu ai - From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Thank you to our whole community for the support we have recieved throughout this term. It has been action packed, with so many learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
Heading into the cooler months, just a reminder that we are in winter uniform for Terms 2 and 3 and the details of what is required can be found on our website or by calling the office.
As you read this, I will have landed in Canada for the ULead Conference in Banff, as part of a delegation of NZ principals from across the country and sector.
ULead is an International Conference presented by the Alberta Teachers Association - Council for School Leadership.
It is a conference that focusses on transformational leadership in schools and is an opportunity to gather as a group of principals to have conversations on innovative leadership and discuss what that can look like in our own schools.
After the Banff Conference, the delegates will head to Vancouver to look at schools. School visits will focus on wellbeing practices for staff and students and reflect on equitable educational outcomes for indigenous students.
The funding for this trip has come from the recent settlement to the Primary Principals’ Collective Agreement 2023-2025. Primary principals and the Ministry of Education agreed that in both 2023 and 2024, Principals can access up to $6,000 of Professional Coaching Support for Principal Leadership Role Funding. The funding ensures principals can access coaching and support which enhances their leadership role and supports their professional development and wellbeing.
My thanks to the Board of Trustees and my wonderful colleagues for supporting me to attend.
A reminder that we have been invited to participate in the ANZAC Day Parade on Thursday, 25th April. All children are welcome to join us in the parade and need to meet at 8.40a.m. outside the Porirua City Council administration building. They need to be in their full school uniform.
Enjoy the holiday break and take care if you are travelling away.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 14th April, 2024
Third Sunday of Easter
Luke 24:35-48
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus appears to His disciples again and shares a meal with them. At the end of the meal, Jesus tells them to be witnesses to Him and to preach forgiveness in His name. When we share in the Eucharist we are also sharing a meal with Jesus and being called to mission. At the end of Mass, we are told to “Go in peace to love and serve the Lord”; these words remind us of what Jesus calls us to do.
We have also been learning a lot of new types of poetry as in personification and rhyming. We have written poems about our summer holiday and about pets we wished we had. We’ve written some amazing stories about portals and doors.
We’ve made some awesome graffiti fences (not on the school fences!) but on popsicle sticks!
Next term we hope we can have as much fun as we have had so far this year.

Welcome to two new baby girls!
We send best wishes to the Johnstone and Whittingham families who both have a new baby girl. On behalf of our St. T's community, we offer our love and support and can't wait to meet these two wee girls.
Last Sunday, Isla and Zoey Giles were baptised by Fr. Andrew here at St. Theresa's Church. We wish them both many blessings as they walk along on their faith journey. Please keep them and their family in your prayers.
A huge thanks to the Pizza Fridays Team
On behalf of all the hungry tummies (specifically on a Friday!), we would like to thank all those involved in making this initiative possible. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes and we appreciate each and every one of the volunteers. If you're keen to join the team, please let the organisers know - many hands make light work.

They are for sports events only or on site at school.
For Term 2: There will be a total of 8 Fridays that pizza will be available for you to order. They are:
Weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, NOT in Week 5 (31st May - No school - Teacher Only Day), 6, 7, 8, NOT in Week 9 (28th June - Matariki - No school) and then again in Week 10.
To order pizza and/or ice blocks for your child, please follow ONE of the two processes below:
1. ORDERS FOR THE TERM: Pizza will be available for 7 WEEKS this term. So if ordering for the term, just multiply by 7. If you decide part way through the term, then calculate how many Fridays are left. Send an email to the team, outlining the following information for each child you are ordering for BUT in one email is fine.
Child’s Name:
Room No.:
Number of pizza slices - please specify if gluten free
Number of ice blocks
Cost: $1.50 per pizza slice and $1 per ice block
Multiply the order total by the number of Fridays.
2. WEEKLY ORDERS: These need to be sent to the same email address, with the same order details as in Option 1 and also paid into the same bank account number.
VERY IMPORTANT: The deadline for weekly orders is at 3p.m. on a Thursday. Unfortunately, no late orders can be accepted.
If you would like to pay in advance for a set number of weeks but not all
the weeks in this particular term, please feel free to email these details to
the team.
If your child is new to our school and only starts part way through the term,
simply adjust the number of weeks for the remainder of the term.
kaiorders@stp.school.nz
Payment by internet banking only to 12 3254 0109325 00 using the
