Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Welcome back to Term 2. I hope you all managed to have some down time and catch up with whanau and friends.
Thank you to everyone who enquired about my trip to Canada. It was an amazing experience that I was very grateful for. We had 189 delegates at the ULead Conference in Banff. We were the largest group from outside Canada and New Zealand definitely made an impact on this international conference. Visiting other Catholic schools and indeginous schools was both encouraging and educating and we have been able to form connections that will be ongoing.
We had a great turnout on ANZAC Day for the Porirua ANZAC Day civic service. Many of our children were able to proudly wear their families medals and march in the parade. Thank you for supporting the children to understand the importance of this very special day.
Back at school on Monday we held our own commenorative service, led by our Year 6 students.
Have a great weekend.

Gospel Reflection - Sunday, 5th May, 2024
Sixth Sunday of Easter
John 15:9-17
In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus commands His disciples to “love one another as I have loved you”. These are words He spoke during the Last Supper before He demonstrated His love by sacrificing Himself on the Cross.
Jesus gives us this same commandment. We are called to reflect on how we can better show our love for one another, honouring the love Jesus has for us.
Welcome to our first new student in Term 2!
Clara Latham has started school in Room 1. She is the daughter of Marc and Teresa and the sister of Alyssa and Natalia. She already knows the ropes and we wish her many happy primary school years here at St. T's!
Congratulations to Payge Garner
A huge congratulations to Payge Garner who graduated with a Diploma of Primary Teaching from Te Rito Maioha. She celebrated her graduation in Auckland during the school holidays. We are very pleased that Payge has begun her teaching career at St Theresa's and we wish her many fulfilling years ahead.
Learning Hub Update from Sarah Hunt, Librarian
Welcome to Term 2…….the term with lots of exciting bookish events planned. Keep a track of the school calendar for all the details and right here for regular updates. This past week we recognised and showed our respect to those who fought for us and to remember those who lost their lives during these past and present conflicts.
Has this ANZAC day left you with lots of questions? Or simply tweaked your interest?
Visit the Learning Hub WebApp to see the ANZAC day Dashboard. On the Dashboard you can play interactive games and learn lots of interesting facts about ANZAC Day.
Check out this list of wonderful ANZAC and War books available in the Library collection to help you learn more about this important day.
Bookish events and happenings in the Learning Hub Term 2:
Autumn display in the library entry foyer
Week 2: NZSL week: watch for the display to pop up
Week 3: Pink Shirt Day display
Week 7: Scholastic Book Fair arrives - more info to follow
Week 7: Friday, 14th June - Book Character Dress Up Day - start planning your costume
Week 8: Final Book Fair shop days
Week 9: Matariki library display
Just a reminder - you may only park in these marked bays if you have a mobility permit. It seems there are people using these without the necessary permit which causes problems for people who are entitled to legally park there. Your consideration in this matter would be appreciated.
Pizza Fridays for this term - just to clarify!
Apologies for the error in the newsletter about the number of weeks for pizza this term. It's for 8 weeks - every week except Week 5 and Week 9. Ordering details in the article below.
For Term 2: There will be a total of 8 Fridays that pizza will be available for you to order. They are:
Weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, NOT in Week 5 (31st May - No school - Teacher Only Day), 6, 7, 8, NOT in Week 9 (28th June - Matariki - No school) and then again in Week 10.
To order pizza and/or ice blocks for your child, please follow ONE of the two processes below:
1. ORDERS FOR THE TERM: Pizza will be available for 8 WEEKS this term. So if ordering for the term, just multiply by 8. If you decide part way through the term, then calculate how many Fridays are left. Send an email to the team, outlining the following information for each child you are ordering for BUT in one email is fine.
Child’s Name:
Room No.:
Number of pizza slices - please specify if gluten free
Number of ice blocks
Cost: $1.50 per pizza slice and $1 per ice block
Multiply the order total by the number of Fridays.
2. WEEKLY ORDERS: These need to be sent to the same email address, with the same order details as in Option 1 and also paid into the same bank account number.
VERY IMPORTANT: The deadline for weekly orders is at 3p.m. on a Thursday. Unfortunately, no late orders can be accepted.
If you would like to pay in advance for a set number of weeks but not all
the weeks in this particular term, please feel free to email these details to
the team.
If your child is new to our school and only starts part way through the term,
simply adjust the number of weeks for the remainder of the term.
kaiorders@stp.school.nz
Payment by internet banking only to 12 3254 0109325 00 using the
reference PIZZA. The team would appreciate a screenshot of your
payment, sent to their email address.
