Square Eyes Screen Foundation is hosting AROUND THE WORLD IN 8 DAYS these July school holidays—an all ages film tour at the iconic Embassy Theatre—and you’re all invited!
AROUND THE WORLD is a week-long celebration of on-screen storytelling ideal for tamariki and rangatahi aged 3 -15 (and their grown-up film-going companions), showcasing big screen premieres, beloved classics, short films, features, documentaries, and more.
Highlights include a YELLOW SUBMARINE SING-ALONG, MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO, THE MUPPET MOVIE, the NZ premiere of KENSUKE'S KINGDOM, and LIVE CINEMA: PINK PANTHER.

Become part of a Women’s Friendship Project
Are you a locally-connected woman who would like to get to know women who have recently settled in Aotearoa? Catholic Social Services (CSS) with partners will bring women together in a community setting. There will be activities to get to know each other with friendships growing over time. The women you will meet come from a range of life stages and live throughout the Greater Wellington region. We will begin with monthly gatherings on a Saturday afternoon in Lower Hutt with the first scheduled for 27 July. Your children are welcome to come too. Years 1-4 - For Beginners, these sessions will work on improving basic netball skills and help start to develop technical and tactical knowledge in accordance with the Future Ferns Programme. Children will work towards the following skills Passing, Shooting, Spatial Awareness and Defensive Skills.
Years 5-8 - These sessions will work on sharpening the basic skills - Passing and Shooting and we will start to develop a better understanding of the 7-aside game and the different positional roles. As the stars of the Matariki cluster rise in the winter sky, they signal a time of remembrance, reflection, and renewal across Aotearoa. Matariki is a special period that connects us to the land, the sky, and each other, through a series of events, traditions, and celebrations that are deeply rooted in Māori culture. Ngā Manu is celebrating this special time of year with a number of offerings for the whole whānau. We are introducing a brand-new Star Hunt Nature Trail, combined with a Seed Bomb Workshop which enables tamariki to make their own seed bomb to take home. We will also have a sausage sizzle and hot drinks on offer, along with guided bush walks at 12:15pm. Not to mention our ever-popular Eel Feeding at 12pm and 2pm. These will be running across the whole weekend (28-30 June). On Friday we will also have Daizy Design face painting from 12-2pm and your chance to meet a life size Moa, courtesy of Stringbean Puppets.

The Cape Egmont Virtual Half Marathon offers three distance options - 5 km, 10 km and 21 km. Which can be completed any time anywhere from the 1st to the 31st of July 2024. Simply record your time via Strava, Map my run, Fit Bit or screenshot and upload through our website. Every finisher receives a medal and all money raised goes to the Taranaki Cancer Society and the Taranaki Men Can Exercise Group. To help those in our province affected by cancer.
